For animal organizations in the USA I have an opportunity to share. In honor of World Rabies Day (September 28th) the Global Alliance for Rabies Control and Pfizer Animal Health has teamed-up to present you with the opportunity to apply for free animal rabies vaccine. The rabies vaccine, along with the distribution and shipping charges, will be at no cost to your organization. USA non-profit animal organizations can take advantage of this opportunity by filling-out and sending in the application form that has been developed.
This form is located on the WRD Shelter webpage: http://www.worldrabiesday.org/EN/Get_Involved/shelters.html
Please complete the form in its entirety and submit back to my attention (mylissia.stukey@worldrabiesday.org). Please know the number of vaccines is limited and there is a deadline. This is a huge step for the World Rabies Day Campaign in which we look forward to expanding in the years to come!
In honor of World Rabies Day 2010 your organization could host a rabies vaccination clinic, vaccinate feral felines, or utilize the vaccinations for the animals in your organization. These are just a few ideas of what can be done to vaccinate animals and pass on rabies education. Rabies is a global public health concern in which 55,000 humans die each year from this horrific, yet preventable disease. The WRD website (www.worldrabiesday.org) has several tools to utilize for your event to be a success!
Be sure to share the news with your neighboring animal welfare organizations. Thanks!
